Love Blooms....even in Fall!

This is another set from CTMH's Fall/Winter Idea Book that I just LOVE....Love Blooms.

This set is great stamped to make your own patterned paper. I stamped the outline images in Ruby ink on White Daisy cardstock. The small image I coloured in with our amazing new Alcohol markers in Ruby. I added some Sparkles to the centre 'cause most of my cards must have some bling on them!

I used my large scallop/corner maker punch for the border in Black cardstock. I added a strip of Ruby cardstock and stamped the sentiment on a torn piece of White Daisy to complete this quick and easy card.

All supplies are Close To My Heart, unless noted.

Is Christmas for the birds.........?

Once you get started on Christmas cards, it is really hard to stop....especially with beautiful Pear & Partridge patterned paper and a Cardinal!

I love Cardinals......I've never seen one, but hope to some day. For now, I'll have to admire them in other forms. Lucky for me, CTMH put one in a new stamp set for Fall/Winter, called To You and Yours.

I stamped the image with Memento Black ink, then coloured in the Cardinal with our Ruby and Topiary Alcohol markers. I added some detail to his eye with a white gel pen and red Sparkles to the berries.

I stamped the Cashmere cardstock with an image from the Scroll Album WOTG kit and everything was edged with Desert Sand ink. I tied up some Cranberry grosgrain ribbon and another Christmas card done!

H2H Challenge - Christmas

It is time for another wonderful H2H Challenge. This one is a Christmas one and was just in time for me to prepare for my October card club using stamp set, Merry & Bright.

I LOVE Close To My Heart's new paper package, Pear & Partridge. It "pears" perfectly with new stamp set, Merry & Bright. My Hostess Card Club will receive this stamp set in October and we will use it to make some Christmas cards.

This flowered patterned paper is my favourite in the pack and its reverse side is the coordinated stripe. I tied it up with new Cranberry Baker's Twine and a Red button. All edges were inked with Desert Sand. For the main image, I stamped the berries in 2nd generation Olive, then again in 1st generation. I stamped the sentiment and flowers in new Ruby ink. I finished the stamped flowers and paper flowers with some Stardust Glitz.

Now, get creating your own Christmas card and join us at H2H Challenge blogspot.

Fall has arrived!

How I LOVE FALL! Cooler weather is the best part in my eyes. I love the additional colour our outdoor surroundings bring, too.

I was encouraged to use my new stamp, Quick Cards - Bountiful Season. I stamped it in Autumn Terracotta on Colonial White cardstock. I added a Creme Brulee mat, along with some Burlap ribbon attached with our Shimmer brads.

The base is Sunset cardstock stamped with an image from the Scroll Album WOTG kit in Sunset ink. I added a Cocoa border and stamped in coordinating ink another image from the same set. I finished the base with a strip of patterned paper from Clementine.

Avonlea with a Ribbon surprise!

A recently posted a picture of a card made using Tresa Black's singed ribbon technique. I didn't stop at just one, this card is another result of that technique.

I made a simple card with this luscious Avonlea Teal patterned paper. I wanted a way to attach my hair clip to the card, so you can see below how I achieved that.

The beautiful accessory is Close To My Heart's Slate polka dot satin ribbon. I cut a piece of ribbon approximately 13 - 15" long for this flower. I started at one end about 1/4" away from the edge of the ribbon and angle cut a strip from the ribbon. This is so the center part would be smaller at the end than the outside or bottom edge.

I singed the cut edge with a tea light candle, then hand sewed a basting stitch along the finished edge. Once I gathered the ribbon, it naturally curls around to create this flower. I added one of our Designer brads, then sewed a piece of grey felt to cover the raw edges. Then I hot glued it to a metal hair clip.

I stamped the Twilight cardstock with Universal Backgrounds. I stamped the shape with an image from Simple Memories and the sentiments from, From Me To You. I embossed "Celebrate" with silver powder.

Clementine two ways.....

I put these 2 simple cards together, for an upcoming card class.

Both cards use Clementine patterned paper and the stamp set from the Scroll Album workshop. For the first card I used a zip strip from retired Mischief paper, from last year. For the latter card, I stamped with the border stamp instead.

Both focus circles were stamped with Sunset ink and accented with Stardust Glitz. The scallop was punched with a larger version of our corner/scallop maker.

The top card used Sorbet and Cocoa cardstock. Below, I used Saddle; Sunset; and Creme Brulee.

Love Blooms with Alcohol.........

Ha, that heading ought to get some of my friends a lookin'!
I used Close To My Heart's new Alcohol Markers, on this beautiful rose, from the set
Love Blooms.

I started with yummy Slate cardstock, then stamped this shaded rose image in Ruby ink, all over. I stamped some Whisper cardstock with the script image of Universal Backgrounds, in Slate ink. I added some Ruby cardstock with our new Glamour Glitter Alphabet for the sentiment. I also used new Silver Shimmer Trim and Grey Wool Baker's Twine.

The rose image was stamped with Memento Black ink, then I cut it out. I used only our Ruby Alcohol marker and its complimentary shade marker to colour the rose. I added a wee bit of Stardust Glitz for more pizzazz.

Big Card for H2H Challenge

This week our Design Team challenge at H2H Challenge blog, is to create a BIG card. A card larger than 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. My card is a 5 x7 created after some inspiration I'll share below.

Reading the blogs I follow a week or so ago, the amazing Tresa Black was at it again reprising a favourite technique. She made a gorgeous singed flower for a card.....so I had to copy!

I used our new and gorgeous Slate Polka Dot satin ribbon. I cut pieces that were 7 dot rows long....really, I counted the dot rows to measure! Then I cut one end almost like the top of a heart, but not quite as deep. I got a tea light out; lit it; then held each petal with tweezers in the flame, until the ribbon melted slightly.

I love this technique and have made many singed flowers for hair clips. I never would have put one on a card until I saw Tresa's. After I finished the petals I added a circle layer of our new Black Tulle on the back and in between both petal layers. I hand stitched all of those layers to a small grey circle of felt, on the back. I cut a small circle from the ribbon and singed it. I poked our Bling Brad through it and attached than to the entire thing.

I have not permanently attached the flower to my card, as I may add either a pin or clip to it because it seems to need an additional purpose rather than adorning a card.

I used Avonlea patterned paper; then stamped with Love Life; Universal Backgrounds; and Dreams Come True. The word "Dream" is embossed in silver embossing powder.

Now, head create your own BIG card and join us over at H2H Challenge blog with your entry.

Humble Artist's Swap - Aug 2012

Here is my entry for another installation of the Humble Artist's Swap. This card was created for our August 10th date, with guidelines listed below.

Here are the guidelines for this swap....they were somethin'!
Aug 10 GUIDELINES:
-Minimum 8 layers
-Use ONLY neutrals and one colour
-Use one stamp set with the word “Background” in it
-Use one stamp set with the word “Borders” in it
-Have at least 2 other different stamped images
-Use at least 3 Art Philosophy shapes
-Minimum 3 embellishments
-Card must be at least 4 ¼ x 5 ½

I stamped with Baroque Borders on the background layer in Slate ink on Slate cardstock. The trio of grey is stamped with the script image from Universal Backgrounds in Slate ink. The cardstock colours are: Grey Flannel; Whisper; and Slate.

I added patterned paper from retired Lucy. I cut the patterned paper; "Live"; leaf stem and the bracket shapes with Art Philosophy and Artiste. The tiny tag and flower were cut by hand. The sentiment on the tiny tag came from a retired flourish set.

The flower image is from Love Blooms and I coloured it with our wonderful new Alcohol markers in Cotton Candy. I gathered up some of our new Black Tulle to add a ruffle underneath the flower, then added some Sparkles to the flower centre. Finally, I tied up my tiny tag with some Black Waxy Flax to meet my 3 embellishment rule!

An H2H Challenge

I LOVE making these small cards and when I can meet the guidelines of a challenge, too, it is hard to resist.

The challenge over at H2H is to create a mini card, smaller than a standard 4.25 x 5.50 card. So, I grabbed my Clementine paper and made 4 each of 2 designs of these cute 3x3 cards.

I used the Scroll Album Workshop stamp set and Clementine Workshop On The Go Kit stamp set. I stamped background images in second generation Sunset; sentiments in Saddle and the small flower with Sunset. The card bases are Sunset and the flowers are Creme Brulee cardstock. The border is Saddle cardstock and I added Sparkles to finish these cuties off.

I think I will make a set of these for each month of my Clubs with the coordinating paper packs we are using. I'm sure each Hostess will be thrilled to get a set. I'll have to cut a little holder to put them in, too.

Clementine cards

These cards were included in my Clementine folder I posted a while back. Very simple use of what paper was left over after the top of the folder was cut.

I added Twilight cardstock to the Colonial White card base. Each sentiment shape got a Barn Red cardstock mat. Both sentiments were stamped in Sorbet ink. The word bubble is from the Artiste cartridge bundle and the other is from Casual Expressions.
